Shakes & Fidget - Formulas - Calculators, statistics and more.

Hello! :)
I am new to this forums, but not new to Shakes & Fidget world. I am playing at Polish servers from some time :)
I would like to share with you fansite I made for Polish Shakes & Fidget community. It is online database with very useful informations and statistics from SF game. There are also very helpfull calculators. It will help you to make decision which quest is better, which weapon is better etc.
Huge advantage of this web site is you dont need to download any Excel nor .exe files. Everything is available online.

My web site is very popular in Poland, and I noticed many people from other countries using it with google translator. I also received emails with request of translation my web site into english.

So here we go, today I translated whole site to english :)

I hope you enjoy my fansite :)

I am not english native, so there is posibility I made some grammar mistakes. If you find any, please let me know, so I will fix it :)

Currently I am working on more calculators, more advanced ones. Also gathering infos for few additional sections.

Kind regards,
Kalais

ok so heres a question

anyone know exaclty how crit damage is calculated ?

is a weapon with a greater damage range better for crit damage or worse ?

Charista 06-07-2011 12:26 PM

Sampling tends to show that a crit simply multiplies damage by 2, which means it would not benefit any weapon more than another.

lspiderl 06-07-2011 06:45 PM

so in this case a higher MAX damage would be better?

i some games crit damage is max damage plus the differnce between min and max damage so a weapon with a larger range dramaticly increases amount of damage of a crit

so say bow number 1 has a 50 -100 range and bow number 2 has a 70-85 range

bow 2 would be better for consistant damage bow 1 would very but would have a huge crit due to its damage range

in other games crit is simply max damage doubled bow 1 wins again

but still in OTHER games is average damage doubled wheren bow 2 has a MUCH better average damage and wins clearly in consistant damage and crit

Charista 06-08-2011 12:25 AM

50-100 is ~75 and 70-85 is ~77.5, so yes, Bow 2 is better.

If, however, you used:
Bow 1: (50-100) ~75
Bow 2: (70-80) ~75

you would have a fairer comparison.

Not better. Different.

With Bow 1, for every fight where you crit with 100 base damage, there is one where you crit with 50 base damage, Having a lower minimum makes you vulnerable to weaker players. Basically, the trade off to sometimes beat higher level players with good rolls makes you vulnerable to lower level players with bad rolls.

The one exception is Dungeons. A higher max lets you beat dungeons at a lower level than you would with a tighter range weapon like Bow 2. The trade-off here is that you might cause yourself to lose quests on bad damage rolls.

I'm not going to discuss other systems, simply because it can get confusing.

This is very useful

Thank you very much!

Keep updating. :D

YOU ROCK!!!

:bi: :welldone::ay: Thank you very much!!! Excellent site, easy to use and very useful! I'll point all my Guild members to use it!

spiny norman 06-04-2012 11:33 AM

the weapon calculator is most useful. It would be more so if it also took into luck, which can affect average damage by 10% or more, and constitution, which determines how many shots you can get off against your opponent before you are defeated. If I have the weapon in hand, it's easy enough to compare: if you can get 10% more damage for 5% fewer hit points, it's worth it, but if 5% more damage gives you 8% fewer hit points, it's probably not.

Jengas 06-04-2012 03:01 PM

http://sftools.info/ does a decent job of comparing two items with any stats and spitting out an approximate value of that item with regard to damage mitigation, damage output, etc.

spiny norman 06-04-2012 03:10 PM

thanks. won't let me register. I'll try again later

well, I guess it would let me register. In fact, i'm now registered 5 times. Calculator still give an error, though.

Jengas 06-04-2012 10:30 PM

Yikes, i guess the site is buggy now. Well, I use a 5/4/3/1 point multiplier for my stats (Main stat/Con/Luck/trash stats). I just made an excel sheet that does the calculations for me and use it to compare gear. I suggest using the weapon tool site for comparing weapons though since the added damage stat complicates things a little.

spiny norman 06-13-2012 07:19 AM

It's been more than a week, and the sftools.info site is still non-functional. sigh.

Jengas 06-16-2012 10:13 PM

Well to be fair, the site had its cons in addition to its pros. For instance, you had to reupdate all stats on your character before you can compare one item. Your toon page isn't stored, so if you accidentally lose the link directing you to your toon, you'll have to start a new one (which you might as well anyway since you have to fill everything out each time you want to use the site). And pot effects had to be removed when updating so as to better compare the two items. So it's rather time consuming for each item you want to look up. So it's not a complete loss I think.

Making an excel sheet works just fine for the job I think. So long as you understand that your main stat>>con>>int>junk stats, you really can't go wrong. What multiplier you use isn't particularly crucial.
