Selecting officers
 
Howdy all,

A question (mostly) for the other guild leaders, just out of idle curiosity: how did/do you pick your guild officer(s)?

I've always just made everyone an officer because I figured people would like to have some say in how things get run using their donations, but a) it doesn't look like most other guilds do things like that, and b) only a couple of people in our guild actually exercise their officer privileges... anyway, I'm not planning on changing our system now, but I am curious how other guilds view that position...

I have pick ppl that have been in the guild awhile or have been with me in other guilds and they are ppl I trust. I have heard too many horror stories of a rogue officer kicking all non officers and then leaving. So I have only seen 2 ways of going either little to no officers or make everyone an officer.

It never occured to me before, but appointing everyone an officer is actually a very sensible way of preventing rogue officers from having a kicking spree. :D

Of the three guilds I am in, the one I lead and a second one use the trust-based system.
I am thinking about promoting some additional member(s) who is(are) online in time so start our fights, though...

In the third one every active member is appointed an officer. We were plagued by serious inactivity issues,
so this system is a means of keeping track of activity more easily on the one hand,
and simplifies keeping up our daily rhythm in terms of guild fights on the other,
since everyone can start them or take care of recruiting themselves.
