How important is the armor?

What item is better:

1.
armor 1400
str 253

or

2.
armor 959
str 259

thanks for help and advice

Meseket 05-30-2011 03:31 AM

First one is best choice because 6 str ain't worth the loss of 441 armour

This really does need more info. What are the damage ranges for the weapon you have now. What is your level? What is your total armor with each? Are you fighting a lot of mages or just a few?

I agree with meseket. 6 strength points you can manually add permanently to your stats easily with a day's work. You can't do that with armor.

Thanks a lot for all the advices. Now another two weapons, shields:

1.
all attributes +123

2.
strength + 272

I'm lv 139 now. This is also the general question. When is the time to replace epic items with strength only ones?

Big Picture

One problem is you are looking at things item by item. You need to look at all you aquipment and items as a total package. In the case replacing epic items with strength, I try to balance it out.
My current example is I had an item with Str, Con & Luck bonus of 142 and I had a ring with Str bonus 243. I got a ring with Str, Con & Luck of 155, and an item with Str bonus of 240. I replaced both ring and item with the new ones. Net effect: Str + 10 Con & Luck +13. I do the same balancing act with armor.
I only replace a single piece if there is a piece that inhances the same stats, then it is simply look wich one is better.
Oh BTY I am a warrior just in case you can't tell.

I promote a 4:3:2:1:1 philosophy. Your Primary stat is worth 4 points, Con 3, Luck 2, and the other 2 1. Darstard named this the Goodness (PP) equation:

Goodness(Item 1) = 123 x (4+3+2+1+1) = 1353
Goodness(Item 2) = 272 x 4 = 1088

The +all would be better.

However:

To defeat Mages and Scouts, A Warrior wants Str = 4/3 Con. To defeat Warriors, a
Warrior wants Maximum Strength. So, basically, who do you want to kill?

Your math, and Darstard's Goodness (PP) would suggest that it is good to replace a +123 All Epic with

1353 / 4 =338 + STR.

That seems a bit late to me.

Actually, by observation, I agree with that opinion, Az. (I'm not sure we didn't discuss it back in the old Endless days. You need to fix up your .sig, BTW). I know how to better develop the math behind the 43211 concept now (where when I first developed it, we had no math on defenses at all, so it was all speculative), so I'd come up with better numbers now; however, 43211 doesn't have a huge amount of error from the ideal, and it would be much easier to remember than something like 9:8:4:1:1 or whatever it would turn out to be.

And further, it would have to scale with level. Luck becomes increasingly powerful, so for higher levels, the Luck component would increase... slooooooooowly.
