It when the players from one guild join another with the one guild no longer existing.
example guild A asks guild B to merge with it. Guild B says ok. Guild A sends invites to guild B when all members either join guild A or other guilds guild B is no more or just inactives in it and guild A is stronger for having more players in it.

To me, a true merger requires two parties to negotiate the combining of the best players of two guilds into a single guild with some combination of the operational rules of the two original guilds used for managing the results. What you are describing is just an exodus.

A merger wouldn't just import people, but the way the resulting guild works must also change. This could be a redefinition of how to remove people for inactivity, for instance, or a method whereby those that don't get into the resulting guild can make their way in through excelling in the "sister" guild.

Charista thats sounds like aquiring a sister guild where in a merger the stronger guild mergers the weaker guild into it with the weaker guild following the stronger guilds rules or whatever rules was worked out by both guild leaders. Also the weaker guild would either no longer be around or have inactives left. An exodus would be where the weaker guild still had players that didn't want to leave and is still a funtional guild after the exodus.

A sister guild would be that there are still 2 guilds with the stronger players going to the better guild and the weaker players going to the sister guild to develope till there is room in the main guild.

I can see where either way could be seen as a merger but even if you go by the merge signs on the highway you have 2 lanes merging into one lane. Even in business a merger is where 2 businesses are merged into one.

Have to agree with Charista. A merger is equal. If you just pick up a group of players from another guild then it usually means their guild is falling and they need a change. Then they are simply new additions to the guild.

This discussion has happened a few dozen times. In S&F, a merge of guilds is where two guilds join into a single guild. There may or may not be changes in policy. However, you do not result with 2 guilds replacing 2 guilds.
