actually, it's more like placing 2 consecutive posts or your (or someone else's) facebook page. Which I don't see as much of a problem.

If the posts are back-to-back, say a short time period a part, the Edit button should be used. However, I don't see an issue with modifying the current rule to allow for back-to-back given an elapsed period of time, say a week, has gone by.

Bumping is pretty similar to double posting so there would be some conflict there. It'd have to be amended as well.

I see bumping as moving a thread to the top without adding any new info, and should thus be discouraged. Double posting adds new content without an intervening post, and is thus beneficial.
