Default What do you read

As the title says what do you read which genre like fantasy, si-fi, romance, etc... and what authors.

Since I am starting the thread I guess I should say what I read.

EDIT: how could I forget

JRR tokein the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

EDIT EDIT: I just found out recently wone of the authors I read Anne McCraffrey (Dragon Riders of Pern) passed away durning the finishing touchs of her and her sons newest book for the Dragon Riders of Pern series. She was a good author of a series spanning over 30 years.

She will be missed by me and all her fans.

You wouldn't be wrong if you get something that Benedikt wrote i red 3 books "Millennium", "Operator" and "Karma" really good stories..Also if you like horror books (it was my first horror) "Marina" by "Karlos Ruis Safon"...
And ive just remembered if you like invisible ninjas try "Tales of the Otori" trilogy by Lian Hearn...really good books

speaking of over describing things that is something i feel king and tolkien had in common. i loved the hobbit and the lord of the rings trilogy greatly but damn i could do without 5 pages of description of a mountain. i had it pictured in my mind after a couple sentences. i mean i get it. they really want you to see it the way they see it but geez and lets not forget the songs. dear god the songs. i read every single one of those ridiculous songs until i got to the return of the king. by then i had enough. they added nothing to the story. at least not in my mind.

other than that................zombie books. i own about 100 or so. my favorite is world war z but i generally enjoy any book on the subject. if we are talking graphic novels the walking dead is the best but i am a big marvel buff too. specifically anything mutant related. i pride myself on being somewhat up to date on most x-men story lines.

and chuck palahniuk. although i have not picked up a book of his since pygmy.

and dean koontz but really just the odd series.

argh. and george r.r. martins a song of fire and ice series. i got hooked on the show game of thrones so i picked up the first book and was blown away with how well written it was. great stuff.

sorry i ran a bookstore for 4 years.

I loathe fantasy books..EXCEPT..George RR Martin. Just not interested in yet another dragon this or warrior that.
Sci-fi doesnt interest me either except Phillip K Dick.

Chuck Pahalaniuk. Martin Amis. Erik Larson. Jon Krakauer. Christopher Moore. Bret Easton Ellis. Kurt Vonnegut.

Otherwise... classics, philosophy books or random books by various writers. Happy to recommend some..but most of you like I cannot recommend much good in that field.

Someone mentioned World War Z...TERRIFIC book. And when they filmed in Scotland, I was an extra BUT...heard they've done some no idea if I'll be in the film now.
